RC Aircraft Design Project

Overview

Inspired by early aviators, I wanted to live the same dream, albeit at a much smaller scale. I built a custom high-aspect-ratio RC aircraft as a test platform for lift characterisation, designed and assembled over December 2023 to January 2024.

Design

The full aircraft assembly was modelled in Fusion 360. An adjustable centre-of-gravity rail lets a ballast mass slide along the fuselage axis, enabling repeatable experiments on how CG position affects lift, stability, and handling.

Control

Elevator and aileron mixing was implemented in C++ on an embedded flight controller, combining control inputs for coordinated, stable flight.
